Fish Face

I hate to write about this place because it seems like the whole world is writing favourable reviews about it...but it really is so good that it is worth commenting on.

Fish Face on Darlinghurst Road is by far the best seafood place known to man (well there is also that great place in Brighton-Le-Sands and Lure is very very good too....but really I think this is the best best).

Now I've only ever gotten take-away from there because we live down the road and it's always so full that it just seems easier...but either way the food is great. What I really want to comment on though, is the Fish and Chips.

I would not blame anyone for thinking fish and chips is an ordinary, simple meal that always tastes the same no matter where you go - that's probably why it's even so popular as a take-away meal...but Fish Face has changed that.

Their fish and chips is so good you can be fooled for thinking it is completely healthy (it is certainly much healthier than most). For the take-away price of $15 you get large amounts of fresh fish that's been lightly battered with flour and flavour as well as home made cut and cooked chips sprinkled with sea salt, side of tartae sauce and lemon.

But your dollar does certainly not stop there. The treatment you will receive at Fish Face is in itself a rare gift. Regardless of how busy they are and despite the fact you may be wearing your couch clothes and only getting take-away rather than looking chic and eating their fine sushi or other tasty morsels at one of their tables....you will still be treated as though you were their only customer. Their attention will never drift away from you until they see you happily and hungrily walk away carrying their superbly packaged fish and chips.

And really, isn't that what hospitality is all about?

I didn't want this review to be very long, or talk about how wonderful and famous the chef is (and quite spunky too though my boyfriend doesn't like when I say that because I once oh so casually told him that I thought he was grinning flirtatiously at me while waiting for my beloved fish and chips...yet another quality hospitality trait) - I just wanted to second the emotion that it really is worth the try..mmm...
